The University Medical Center Mainz (UMC-Mainz) engages almost 7,500 employees, making it the second largest employer in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It encompasses more than 50 clinics, institutes and departments. The hospital has over 1,500 beds and treats around 55,000 patients every year. Approximately 120,000 additional patients are treated every year on an outpatient basis. UMC Mainz is also a teaching and research hospital with research units in almost every clinic and institute. The Neuroimaging Center (NIC) is a core research platform of UMC-Mainz. The NIC provides support in key methods of human systems and cognitive neuroscience, incl. neuroimaging, to all interested parties within the regional neuroscience community.
