Institute presentation
The Deutsches Resilienz Zentrum (DRZ; German Centre for Resilience Research) is a research institute whose aim is to contribute to a better understanding of resilience – an individual’s ability to adapt to stress or adversity. Formally established in July 2014, the DRZ’s tripartite approach, which combines basic neuroscience, clinical neuroscience and social science, uniquely addresses one of the most important public health challenges of modern, knowledge-based societies. The DRZ is the first dedicated research institution in Europe that aims to tackle these challenges and to fill an important gap in our knowledge and understanding of resilience. The DRZ conducts two prospective-longitudinal cohort studies, the Mainz Resilience Project (MARP) and the Longitudinal Resilience Assessment (LORA). The DRZ receives significant funding from the Ministry of Science of Rhineland Palatinate, the European Union, the German Research Foundation and the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation, and closely collaborates with the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and its University Medical Centre.
